Palembang, CNN Indonesia —
Hundreds of online motorcycle taxi drivers crowded one of the outlets McDonald’s at the Anugerah Hotel Ruko, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Palembang, South Sumatra. Drivers flocked and went to McD’s management to question the mass cancellations they experienced during the flood of orders BTS Meal.
The crowd provoked the arrival of the South Sumatra Covid-19 Task Force and South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru, whose office is not far from the outlet. The drivers complained about the wasted time after waiting in line for a long time but did not get the BTS Meal order.
“Suddenly thecancel, many here who have been waiting for a long time, from 09.00 am suddenly in-cancel now [pukul 14.00]. We lost time, sir,” said one of the drivers.
Herman Deru, who mediated the incident, immediately questioned the incident to McD’s management in front of online motorcycle taxi drivers. McD’s side, said Herman Deru, did not cancel unilaterally.
“Lost time, now if it’s been canceled Brethren still here will lose more time,” he said.
“Now how many people are affected cancel, recorded, never mind. You look for luck elsewhere first, shocked [nanti] I changed the money. How many people, multiplied by Rp. 50 thousand per person, from my personal money,” said Herman Deru to cheers from the drivers.
On the same day, the Palembang City Satpol PP officers carried out control and broke up the crowds that occurred due to the long queues for ordering BTS Meal at several McD outlets in Palembang. At several points, there was a traffic jam due to the accumulation of motorbike parking for GoJek drivers.
The Palembang Satpol PP once reprimanded the management of the McD outlet on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman because there was a crowd. The head of the Palembang Satpol PP GA Putra Jaya said that his party together with the Covid-19 Task Force had visited after receiving a crowd report. It’s just that when the officers arrived, the conditions were quiet.
His party immediately met the management who gave a warning and education to prevent the crowd from happening again.
“We have given a direct warning. If we do not comply with health protocols and there are still crowds, we will give strict sanctions to business actors,” he said.
In the next few days, his party will alert officers at four McD outlets in Palembang to prevent crowds from forming.
