In 2021 we only awarded the full 5 stars in a FILMSTARTS review twice. For the devastating Netflix drama “Pieces Of A Woman” and then again for the Golden Bear winner “Bad Luck Banging Or Loony Porn”, which for us in the race for the title “Best Film of the Year” is currently even barely has the edge.
The relentlessly caustic satire is a film that, in our opinion, every film fan should have on their screen this summer – at least as long as he is of legal age, because director Radu Jude opens his film, told in three chapters, directly with a hardcore porn scene, according to which the FSK could not avoid pulling out a release from the age of 18, despite all its artistic ambitions.
This is what “Bad Luck Banging” is all about
The teacher Emi Cilibiu (Katia Pascariu) has recorded private porn with her husband – and it ends up not only on PornHub, but also on the students’ cell phones and finally in the WhatsApp groups of the indignant parents.
On the way to a specially convened parents’ conference, the stressed pedagogue also has to deal with the normal chaos of the corona pandemic. Masks everywhere – and aggressions that escalate much faster than usual in view of the general situation …

One of them has to do with that Wonder Woman fucks the whole better society of Romania with a huge dildo …
… and you can’t help but get the impression that Radu Jude, who has been fighting the stubbornness of Romanian society for many years with his work, whose previous film “I don’t care if we go down in history as barbarians”, we do too with 5 stars, also expresses a very real and very personal need in this scene!
