All Ukrainian national personnel in the NATO mission in Afghanistan Resolute support returned to their homeland. About it informs Ministry of Defense on Wednesday, June 9.
“100% of the personnel of the Ukrainian national personnel in the NATO mission in Afghanistan Resolute support returned to Ukraine from June 1 to 5, 2021 on an IL-76MD flight of the Ukrainian Air Force,” the statement said.
The planned return of 21 troops took place in accordance with the NATO decision to end the mission, which was made on April 14, 2021.
“The experience gained in the implementation of NATO mission missions. Ukrainian servicemen will apply decisive support in their homeland. In particular, they will carry out assigned tasks to counter the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in the area of the Joint Forces operation,” the military department noted.
On the eve it became known that The United States withdrew more than half of the military from Afghanistanthat were there. Almost 13 thousand units of military equipment were transferred to the Department of Defense Logistics Directorate for the purpose of its further destruction.
