The Elder Scrolls Online has been running a year-long adventure known as The Gates of Oblivion, which began in March. The adventure is set to continue with The Elder Scrolls Online’s newest DLC, Blackwood.
For those who don’t know, Gates of Oblivion is the new MMO story arc from Microsoft Xbox and ZM Online, which features players battling Oblivion’s Prince of Destruction, Mehrunes Dagon.
The event kicked off in March with the release of the Flames of Ambition DLC game, which added a series of new dungeons that introduced Mehrunes Dagon and the threat they posed to Tamriel. Now Blackwood is set to take the MMO to a whole new region and really kick off the adventure story.
With Blackwood now available to all The Elder Scrolls Online players, the game has released a trailer to showcase some of the story beats, areas and gameplay that players can expect from the newest installment of Gates of Oblivion.
The trailer sets a dramatic tone for the rise of Mehrunes Dagon and shows the scale of what players can expect from the chapter. It shows some battles with sizable groups of what could be players or some of the new fellow players from Elder Scrolls Online.
The trailer also showcases some of the new locations and stunning views from Elder Scrolls Online. The Blackwood region is mostly covered by dense swamp that is gathering with life and fungus.
The Blackwood trailer also showcases some of the fiery landscapes of the realm of Oblivion that players will also be venturing into. Rivers of lava, scorching horizons and a smoky sky contrast sharply with Blackwood’s misty, life-filled swamps.
However, players will have to log in and play through Blackwood’s 30-hour campaign to see what all the expansion has to offer.
The Elder Scrolls Online is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, PS4 and PC. It will arrive on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 on June 15, 2021.
