Invites IMSS Tlaxcala to the First Blood Donation Day at HGZ No. 1

Due to the COVID-19 health emergency, blood donations have greatly decreased. Given this, the Representative Office in Tlaxcala, of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), invites the general population to donate blood altruistically, all this week until Friday, June 11, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 00 hours, at the Hospital General de Zona (HGZ) No. 1 “La Loma”.

The IMSS has a blood bank at HGZ No. 1, in the state capital, to obtain blood (with its components and hematopoietic progenitor cells), with national and international standards, to offer a quality product that provides an alternative therapeutic to patients who require it.

The day will be carried out following the established safety measures: healthy distance, temperature measurement and clinical assessment to detect the onset of any disease.

In addition, the donation process guarantees safety for donors and health personnel, because the necessary equipment is provided, the devices used are new and disposable. Healthy people are received to donate.

The conditions to be a donor are: be in good health, be over 18 years old and not over 65 years old, have not undergone any surgery in the last six months, or have tattoos or piercings in the last 12 months , nor have they taken medication in the last five days.

The donor must weigh more than 50 kilograms, not suffer from hypertension, not have a fever or have suffered from any illness such as flu, cough, diarrhea or dental infection in the last 14 days, not have risk factors such as the use of drugs intravenous or unsafe sexual practices.

Present for reception from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. at the IMSS Hospital in La Loma, directly at the Blood Bank, whose access is totally independent of access to the hospital area.

Arrive with a relative fast of four to eight hours, the intake of clear liquids is allowed and eating fat should be avoided, 24 hours before the donation.

The IMSS invites you to donate blood to save lives. For more information about this altruistic action, you can call 800 222 26 68.
