The large family MPV segment is slowly dying out at the expense of increasingly popular SUVs and crossovers. An even bigger surprise is the return of the Alhambra back to the Seat brand offer.

Large model Seat Alhambra appeared on the market in 1996 and in 2012 started the sale of the second generation. Since then, family MPVs have declined significantly in our market, and models with a huge portion of practicality have begun to replace the increasingly popular segment of SUVs and crossovers.
Nevertheless (or precisely because of this?), The Alhambra has enjoyed great popularity in recent years. While in 2012 and 2013 the Spanish brand sold up to 20,000 units worldwide each year, sales subsequently grew to a fantastic 33,638 units in 2017. In 2019, whose numbers were not yet affected by the coronavirus pandemic, it was still a very decent 23,015 units.

In our country, the range of available versions first shrank to a single 1.4 TSI engine, before the Alhambra disappeared from the offer completely. It looked like it would be another nail in the coffin of the MPV segment, but the opposite is true. The Alhambra is returning to the Czech market! “In response to our customers’ strong demand for a large family MPV, we are once again adding the proven Alhambra model to our portfolio for the Czech market.” says Aleš Novák from the Czech representation of Satt.

The fact that they do not have much choice in terms of motorizations will certainly not spoil the joy for potential buyers. The offer remains exclusively the 1.4 TSI / 110 kW (150 hp) engine combined with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed DSG (+ CZK 25,000). The car can handle a hundred in 10.7 seconds without looking at the transmission and can continue at a maximum speed of 200 (manual) or 198 km / h.

And the price? The Alhambra returns in the rich Xcellence equipment, so the price list starts at CZK 964,900. The price includes, for example, 17 “alloy wheels, three-zone automatic air conditioning, cruise control, sports front seats and an extended five-year warranty with a range of 100,000 km. For an additional CZK 45,000, you can expand the equipment with the FR-Line Plus action package, which features 18 “brushed wheels, seats with Alcantara / leather upholstery, sports leather steering wheel, heated front seats, adaptive bi-xenon headlights, adaptive cruise control, parking assistant or electric control of side sliding doors. As standard, the car has five seats, you can buy two more seats for CZK 18,900.
The fact that Seat and the Alhambra on the Czech market are seriously proved by the fact that we can look forward to one test piece in the journalistic fleet. MPVs have not had it easy in recent years, we were all the more pleased with this news!
