Man City ambitions to win the Champions League, inspired by Liverpool

Manchester

Liverpool won Champions League 2018/19 after losing in the final of the previous season. Manchester City hope to emulate the success of his rival in the next season.

The Reds lifted the ‘Big Ear’ trophy for the sixth time after thrashing Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the final at the Wanda Metropolitano. Liverpool managed to make amends after a bitter defeat at the hands of Real Madrid 1-3 in Kiev in 2018.

On the other hand, Man City finally made it their furthest step in the competition by reaching the final in May. However, Pep Guardiola’s troops had to bite their fingers after being beaten 0-1 by Chelsea in Porto.

Even though City are more champions than champions Chelsea after being unbeaten from the group stage to the semifinals. In addition, the Blue Sky was also equipped with a landslide victory 5-0 over Everton in the final match of the Premier League, a week before the final at Dragao while the Blues closed the league with a defeat at Aston Villa.

City defender Kyle Walker believes Chelsea deserved to be champions of the Champions League last season. Furthermore, Walker wants his team to go further in 2021/22 and then convert it with a championship title.

“I even think back to the game at Everton and say, ‘I don’t even want us to score five goals, but give us one goal! One goal in that game and save the goals for the final Champions League‘ but this is football and Chelsea are a very good team.”

“[Mereka] It’s very neat and as I’ve said before, in a short time I think the manager has done a very good job getting them to the final, getting them where they belong, compared to going into late December or January. You have to take your hats off to him for what he’s achieved and what his club has achieved.”

“There are many teams that have been in a final like Liverpool; they made it to the final and lost to Real Madrid. The following year they came back and won it. Hopefully we can really be like that,” Walker said in an interview with Daily Mail.
