The Hungarian national team players refuse to kneel at the beginning of the games in what has represented a gesture against racism, considering it to represent a political protest, the country’s federation (MLSZ) announced this Tuesday.
“UEFA and FIFA regulations are clear. They do not authorize politics on the football fields,” recalls the MLSZ through a statement, in which it states “respect for others is one of the basic values of sport.”
During several preparation games for the Euro-2020, players from national teams such as England and Belgium, as well as some referees, have been kneeling on the pitch seconds before the start of matches, in a symbolic gesture against racism.
Hungary, remember, will be Portugal’s first opponent in Euro-2020, a match scheduled for the 15th (Tuesday), at 17:00.
