The pandemic has worsened a labor outlook that already left much to be desired: there is more precariousness, 24,000 jobs have been destroyed in Galicia, hundreds of businesses have closed and this must be added to the uncertainty; What will happen when the ERTE are over? 34,000 Galicians are in this situation.
The dean of the Faculty of Labor Relations of the USC, Silvia Moscoso, is clear that the future passes through ERES, layoffs and more closures. It remains to be seen how companies will manage this situation and what will happen to that pool of people of active age who will be left without a job or business.
The hospitality industry has been at the focus of the pandemic since March last year, but it is not the only sector affected. Everything that has to do with leisure and tourism has suffered a great fall, but commerce, culture and even industry have also noticed the effects of this crisis. In addition, there is a sector -banking- that is taking advantage of the circumstances to undertake a restructuring that happens, fundamentally, to apply Employment Regulation Records.

Hard times ahead with implications also for workers’ mental health; there is more stress, more anxiety and for Silvia Moscoso this is one of the priorities that companies should attend to. Another challenge will be to regulate teleworking and the new relationships between companies and their employees.
