The 14,298 Grade 9 students (7,035 boys and 7,263 girls), who participated in the National Certificate of Education (NCE), will be set this Thursday, June 10. The Mauritius Examinations Syndicate (MES) has arranged for the distribution of results to be done while respecting the barrier measures.
Thus, as was the case for the Primary School Achievement Certificate (PSAC) exams, the ‘coordinators’ will go to Réduit to collect the documents they will give to the rectors.
The results will allow students to confirm their choice of subjects for Grade 10. In some cases, it will be allowed to change stream depending on the results obtained.
The particularity this year is the admission of 2000 students in the 12 colleges converted into academies. Authorities used the following criteria for admissions: Parental Choice, Aggregate and Relative Performance. The courses that will be offered are Economics, Science, Technique and Art.
Renovations
These establishments, it should be remembered, have not admitted students in Grade 7 in recent years. Also, as they will operate in mixed institutions, the authorities are working hard to complete the renovations that will accommodate girls and boys. New toilets and specialized rooms for learning new subjects are being finalized.
