The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has assured this Sunday that this week there will be more people vaccinated than infected by coronavirus. He has said it in an act of the PSOE at the headquarters of Ferraz, in Madrid, in reference to the latest statements of the PP accusing the socialists and Podemos of not defending freedom.
“In front of those who call the people of Madrid to choose between socialists and freedom, the real freedom is that this week there is in Spain more people fully vaccinated than officially infected by COVID-19 “, Sánchez stressed, assuring that half a million doses inoculated per day will be reached.
In this sense, he has spoken dthe concept of freedom to which other parties appeal, and has warned that the freedom of some cannot pass over the rights of others. In addition, has charged the right-wing parties with a strong message: “The flag of freedom will never be held by the duo of Colón because freedom is to be vaccinating, and not to confuse, sow confusion and anxiety about vaccines “.
For this reason, he has insisted on this concept of freedom to ask that after the elections on May 4, Madrid not be “the first region of Europe governed by the extreme right.”
Defense of the Climate Change Law
On the other hand, Sánchez has alluded to climate change and the defense of the law that Congress has just approved of the Deputies for their referral to the Senate. In addition to the socialist candidate for the Presidency of the Community of Madrid, Ángel Gabilondo, the fourth vice president and minister of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera; and that of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto.
The president has also appealed for freedom to defend the Climate Change Law, ensuring that freedom cannot be “to pollute” but to “breathe clean air”, and on that premise he charged against the PP for abstaining in that vote after they tried long ago to “paralyze central Madrid” or eliminate pollution measurement stations to “deceive themselves and deceive citizens.”
With regard to Vox, Sánchez has accused Santiago Abascal of frivolizing with what global warming means. Time will reveal what it was “the right side of history,” he said, whether the fight against climate change or “the denialism of the Plaza de Colón duo“, that of those who want to stop pollution or those who want to” give way to pollution. “
Sánchez has warned that Madrid is “at the tail” in the parameters that will define the competitiveness of the economy in the near future, and has ruled that freedom today is “to protect health, strengthen health and limit the mobility of the virus” to protect the most vulnerable. Freedom is not sowing discord, he added, nor “acting again and again against the rest of the regions of Spain, because that is also contrary to the general interest of the people of Madrid.”
Criticism of those who are launched to “capture turncoats”
Freedom, he emphasized, is to respect the will of the voters, and not to “jump in to attract turncoats” from other parties; is honoring those who suffered persecution to defend the freedom of all, not to “tear plates” from those who died in prison or in exile for doing so; it is to provide those who do not have resources with a Minimum Living Income, not to “ignore” poverty; It is to protect the right to housing, to let the vulture funds “roam freely”.
At that point, Sánchez has given the Congratulations to Gabilondo for committing to approve a regional law that prohibits the city councils of Madrid from selling protected or social housing to those funds. Freedom, he added, is to protect women victims of gender violence, not to “trivialize” with it, as the president of the Community of Madrid and candidate for re-election, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, does, said.
“Protect and vaccinate”
Sánchez has been convinced that “We are at the beginning of the end” of the pandemic, before the “last months” of fighting the virus, in which many lives can be saved, for which he asked to maintain the necessary restrictions to stop the contagion curve, “especially” in the territories with the highest incidence, such as Madrid. “Protect ourselves and vaccinate” are the two axes to stop the pandemic, he insisted.
On “the end” of the pandemic
When the pandemic has been left behind, he said, “we will remember many things,” such as that some supported the health workers while others called cacerolas to sow “hatred and division.”; that some approved the Minimum Living Income while others voted against; that some reached agreements in social dialogue while others opted for discord; that some defended the state of alarm to save lives while others voted “systematically against public health and the defense of life”; that some organized the vaccination campaign while others undertook a “smear campaign when unity was most needed”, that some fought in Europe to obtain funds for Spain while others “intrigued so that Spain would run out of those funds.”
History will put each one in his place, he concluded, but “while that judgment arrives we cannot wait”, and Madrid cannot be “the first region of Europe ruled by the extreme right”Therefore, it is necessary to stop the “Government of the Plaza de Colón” at the polls on May 4.
