The number of people infected with the new coronavirus in Brazil since the start of the pandemic has reached 16,947,062. In 24 hours, the health authorities registered 39,637 new cases of covid-19. The country still has 1,131,372 active cases under follow-up.
The number of people who have contracted covid-19 and have recovered since the beginning of the pandemic is 15,342,286, which corresponds to 90.5% of the total infected.
The data is in the daily update of the Ministry of Health published on Sunday (6) evening. The balance systematizes all the information on cases and deaths collected by the health departments of the states and municipalities.
The total number of fatalities from the disease reached 473,404. Between Saturday and Sunday, 873 new deaths were confirmed, but there are still 3,914 under investigation, that is, cases in which a patient dies, but the cause can only be determined after the death certificate.
Regional data
The ranking of states with the most deaths from covid-19 is headed by São Paulo (114,404). Then come Rio de Janeiro (51,532), Minas Gerais (41,610), Rio Grande do Sul (28,795) and Paraná (27,068). Those with the fewest deaths are Roraima (1,651), Acre (1,690), Amapá (1,719), Tocantins (2,944) and Alagoas (4,859).
Vaccination
The Ministry of Health has distributed 102.9 million doses of covid-19 vaccines to date. Of this total, 67 million doses were applied: 46.1 million of the initial and 20.9 million of the reinforcement.
