In July, two concert programs with the music of Imants Kalniņš and Raimonds Pauls are expected in the cycle “Summer evenings at the Liepāja Theater”, the theater informed.

Spectators will be offered 2 new concert programs in the yard – “Lantern Hour”, which will be performed in 7 concerts from July 7 to 11, and “Acacia Sheet”, which is scheduled for July 27 to August 1. Almost the entire troupe of Liepaja Theater actors will take part in both concerts. They will be accompanied by Liepāja musicians led by Normunds Kalniņš, who has also done a great selection of musical material.

Each program is dedicated to one of the two outstanding composers – Raimonds Pauls and Imants Kalniņš. These composers have been chosen because they have dedicated many years to the creation of theatrical music, which has also been used as a basis for creating programs. Raimonds Pauls ‘cycle “Lantern Hour” will feature music composed for both Liepāja Theater and other theater performances – “Ladies’ Paradise”, “Day of Lovely Mania”, “Forest Swans”, “Sister Kerija”, while Imants Kalniņš’s program “Acacia Sheet” will include songs , written specifically for Liepaja theater performances, such as “Bremen Musicians”, “Love, Jazz and the Devil”, “Three Musketeers”, “Prince and the Beggar Boy”, but, of course, do not do without “Lily”.

The concert programs are composed by director Herberts Laukšteins, choreographer Inga Krasovska and artists Zigrīda Atāle and Aurika Feldmane.

Liepāja Theater started the cycle of concert performances “Summer Evenings at Liepāja Theater” in the summer of 2020, when it was not yet possible to meet the audience inside the theater. 8 concerts were held in the yard of the future Small Hall of Liepāja Theater at Teātra Street 3, 5 of which were solo concerts by actors and three joint concerts. At that time, not yet knowing that the pandemic in the world would continue for so long, the audience was promised to repeat such summer evenings in the theater, thus ensuring the beginning of a new tradition in Liepaja.

Like others, the Liepāja Theater also depends on the decisions made by the government – currently the regulations stipulate that it is possible to attend the events in person only for those spectators who have been vaccinated against Covid-19, as well as for those spectators who have Covid-19. Upon arrival at the concert, spectators will be required to present an entrance ticket along with a valid passport or ID card and a Covid-19 certificate. The entrance ticket will be valid only together with the mentioned certificate and identity document. The theater invites viewers to follow government decisions that may change over time.
