Uncle and two cousins – According to investigators, the three men filmed are an uncle and two cousins of the missing girl, who were going to dig the grave for the young woman. The three relatives and two parents, who have returned to Pakistan, are being investigated on charges of killing the 18-year-old. One of the cousins was arrested in France in recent days and is expected to be handed over to the Italian authorities.

On April 22 the last complaint – Saman had returned home on April 11, to retrieve her documents, after having been in a protected community since November. But on 22 April she once again turned to the carabinieri to denounce the parents who did not want to hand them over and tried to force her into an arranged marriage. On May 5, the absence of the young woman and her parents, who left for Pakistan on May 1, was discovered when the soldiers went to search the house, precisely with the aim of recovering the documents.
I pm: “It’s premeditated murder” – The Reggio Emilia Public Prosecutor disputes the premeditation of the five suspects for the murder of Saman Abbas. “It is difficult to know now who the material perpetrator of the crime is, we do not even know the modality”, states the prosecutor Isabella Chiesi.
“Saman is not in Belgium” – Meanwhile, the search for Saman’s remains continues, “who unfortunately we believe is dead. I would not give any positive feedback to what the father said, we have ascertained that the girl is not in Belgium”, Chiesi said. The young woman’s father, from Pakistan, told a reporter that Saman is alive, that he is in Belgium and that he had heard from her.
Quarrel and shout with parents: “Give me the documents” – On the evening of April 30, Saman tried to escape and had a violent quarrel with his parents. This is what emerges from the custody order in prison of the Reggio Emilia investigating judge for the five suspects. According to investigators, the girl and her parents yelled, she insulted them, “Give me the documents”: Saman told his father. He asked her if she wanted to marry someone and she said she just wanted to leave. Then she took her things and fled. The parent then called the uncle to take her home. The uncle then returned, saying that everything was fine.
A witness: “In my opinion the uncle strangled her” – From the testimony of a minor, the possible method of killing the girl by uncle Hasnain Danish emerges: “In my opinion he killed her by strangling her, also because when he came home he had nothing in his hand”. The man allegedly “cried a lot” and threatened the minor “not to say anything to the carabinieri, resulting in my killing”. Instead, he wouldn’t say anything about where the body was hidden. The night between April 30 and May 1, according to the same witness, the uncle said to Saman’s parents: “Now go home, I’ll take care of it”.
