Meghan Markle gave birth to her daughter, Lilibet Diana, this Friday (June 4, 21), announcing her only on Sunday. The royal family posted their congratulations, including on Instagram.
The British royal family congratulated Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, following the announcement of the birth of their daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, born at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, in Santa Barbara in California, this Friday (June 4, 21).
“Her Majesty’s 11th great-grandchild”
Her first name is a reference to the prince’s grandmother, Elizabeth II, as well as to his late mother, Princess Diana, who died in 1997. A spokesperson for the Queen wrote on Instagram: “Congratulations to the Duke and to the Duchess of Sussex for the birth of Lilibet Diana! The Queen, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very happy with this news. Lilibet is Her Majesty’s 11th great-grandchild ”.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle married in 2018 and gave birth to their son, Archie, a year later. In January 2020, they ended their roles as members of the royal family and moved to live in California.
The birth comes months after the princely couple gave an interview to Oprah Winfrey, saying they were not financially and emotionally supported by Buckingham Palace, accusing some members of the crown of being racist.
