“Due to last year’s lockdown, April’s growth in industrial production reached historic levels, growing by 55 percent year on year. Czech industry is in full swing and its production is approaching the level of 2019, ie its current maximum, “said Radek Matějka from the Department of Statistics on Agriculture and Forestry, Industry, Construction and Energy of the CZSO.

“For the manufacturing industry as a whole, April 2021 is even the strongest month in history. Some industries functioned more or less without restrictions even during the epidemic, but the growth rates of the most affected are really extraordinary in the time series, “added Veronika Doležalová, Head of the Industrial Statistics Department.

“The automotive industry is in full swing despite the worldwide shortage of some components, and thus the downstream industry is also thriving,” said Doležalová.

Revenues from industrial activity increased by 63.5 percent year-on-year. Businesses earned 87.5 percent more from direct exports than a year ago. Domestic sales (including indirect exports) were higher by 38.4 percent.
