Abortion rights – Deeyah Khan won Bafta award

Khan got the idea for the film when she was in the US to do research and film “Muslim in Trump’s America”.

– During the work, I read many articles about one US state after another that introduced new abortion restrictions. This can not happen, I thought. There was also no national or international debate about it. It just happened. One state after another collapsed when it came to women’s rights. Then I decided to make a movie about it, she told Rushprint.

Deeyah Khan runs the production company Fuuse Films, and has won two Emmy Awards for her previous documentaries, as well as a Royal Television Society Award for her film about American right-wing extremists.

Also in this country, she has received a number of awards, most recently Fritt Ords Pris for 2020 for her documentaries about extremism.
