Kulhanek is preparing round tables on relations with Russia

As early as next week, the minister wants to address the chairmen of political parties and invite them to send their foreign policy experts. However, Kulhánek does not believe in a soon settlement of relations with Russia, according to him, it would be illusory. “Above all, it will be the next government that has to do it,” the minister said.

The chairman of the STAN opposition movement, Vít Rakušan, welcomed the opportunity to discuss Czech foreign policy, stating that his party would certainly nominate its representative for the round tables.

In the discussion, Kulhánek also rejected the opinion that the EU and its states would react “weakly” in terms of expressing support for the Czech Republic in the Vrbětice case. “Let’s not reduce this to expulsions (diplomats),” he stressed, adding that the Czech allied countries “unequivocally supported” them. He specifically mentioned, among others, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.

The Austrian replied that mere statements, albeit vigorous, “hurt no one.” He thanked Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Romania for expelling Russian diplomats.
