The Belarusian authorities have already prepared a package of retaliatory sanctions against the European Union, and Minsk hopes that the West will not introduce new measures against the country, Darik reported.
This was stated in an interview with Belarus-1 TV by the Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko.
“However, we hope that the hotheads will cool down and assess the interests of their business in Belarus. If we analyze all the statements of the country’s president in the last decade at all international forums, the leitmotif has always been:
we want peace and tranquility in the region, we support a good-neighborly zone, we want to build equal partnerships. We did everything to achieve this.
However, in the case of damages to our companies, we have every right to compensate for these damages. The package of measures in response to the sanctions is ready, “the Belarusian prime minister said.
According to Golovchenko the damage to the Belarusian economy from Western sanctions could amount to 2.9 percent of the country’s GDP.
The prime minister said Belarus would try to seek compensation in court for losses related to the sanctions following the Ryanair plane crash.
“We are confident in our right and we are ready to defend our interests in court. I assume that we will be able to achieve compensation for all the damage caused to us,” said the Belarusian prime minister.
