Concept imagines how Apple could finally bring the Calculator application to the iPad – Marseille News

As we are days away from WWDC 2021, one of the main things iPadOS users would want is a Calculator app. Here is a concept that imagines the application as a widget in the Control Center.

During the last WWDC, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, Craig Federighi, said Apple would only build a compute app if the company could do it really well and it already exists with it. other apps that can help users calculate things.

“We want to do it (calculator) when we can do it really, really well. Honestly, we just didn’t manage to do it well, so that day might come. “

Thinking about this phrase and after a random chat with a coworker, Evyatar Mor decided to try the Calculator app on iPad.

Although the user interface is the same that Apple uses on the iPhone, the designer’s concept is one of the best I have ever seen. Instead of recreating the app, what if it was a Control Center widget or, even better, an App Clip, like Apple just did with Shazam on iOS 14.6?

I decided to create a Control Center widget, instead of a full app. You might ask “Wait, why not an app?” Because it makes using the calculator faster, you can use it from anywhere while using other apps, it’s faster and more practical, just as Apple’s vision would prefer it, in my opinion.

The designer was even able to add the scientific calculator with a quick and intuitive swipe gesture, which is great. This swipe allows quick and easy access “to more functions without the need to change the screen orientation like today’s iPhone calculator”.

The designer also created a similar concept for the iPhone. That you can find here.
