Republican sponsorship and sponsorship ceremonies in Bordeaux | In short

The City of Bordeaux now offers parents who so wish to be able to solemnly choose a godfather or godmother for their child, on the occasion of a secular republican ceremony celebrated at the town hall by an elected municipal official.

The family can thus choose one or more godfathers or godmothers, who undertake to support the development of the child, under the solemnity of the republican ideal of freedom, equality, fraternity and secularism, with a strong symbolic significance.

The first “republican sponsorship / sponsorship” ceremony of the City of Bordeaux was celebrated on Saturday June 5, 2021 at 11:30 am by Vincent Maurin deputy mayor, at the Caudéran district town hall (the following ceremonies will take place at the town hall ).
