Deadline for the ex-president
Ex-President Donald Trump’s (74) Facebook account will remain blocked until January 2023. The online network announced this in a message. Trump was banned from Facebook and Twitter at the beginning of the year after he contributed to the violent storming of the Capitol in Washington on January 6, 2021 with allegedly inciting news. According to the report, experts will weigh up “whether the risk to public safety has declined” in two years’ time.
Trump has therefore seriously violated the rules of Facebook. At the beginning of May, the Facebook supervisory board declared its suspension to be justified. However, the so-called “Oversight Board” subsequently stated that an “unlimited blocking” was not permitted. Facebook was then asked to re-examine in six months. The supervisory board has now agreed on a period of two years, which will apply from January 7th.
In the event of a return in January 2023, there will be “severe sanctions” for Trump if the 74-year-old breaks the rules again. These range up to a permanent removal of his accounts.
Trump’s blog is offline again
Since Trump had been silenced on Twitter and Instagram in addition to Facebook, the ex-president temporarily launched his own short message blog “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump” in May. After just one month, the platform was taken offline again, as his spokesman Jason Miller confirmed on Twitter on June 2.
