TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Earthquake Magnitude 4.2 shook the entire area of East, Central and West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, at exactly 20.00 WIB, Friday night, June 4, 2021. The earthquake was centered at sea, 8 kilometers northwest of North Lombok.
Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency or BMKG said the earthquake came from a depth of 19 kilometers. The intensity is measured on the MMI III scale (real feeling inside the house, as if a truck was passing) in East, Central and West Lombok, to Mataram.
The Karang Asem area in Bali can also feel it with a weaker intensity, MMI scale II. The scale is equivalent to the vibrations of an earthquake that can only be felt by some people and objects that are hung sway.
A number of netizens said they could feel the shock or vibration from the earthquake. “Really surprised,” exclaimed the owner of the @pantungalimar account which included a map of its location on Mangsit Beach, Lombok Island.
Before this earthquake, BMKG also recorded a weak earthquake in Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara, on Saturday morning at 04.59 WIB. This earthquake was centered on land, with a magnitude of 3.1 M. On Saturday afternoon, a weak earthquake was also recorded again in City Sabang, Aceh.
