The Boston Celtics will seek the transfer of point guard Kemba Walker this summer, sources from journalist Brian Robb say.
It should be remembered that recently the coach Brad Stevens has taken the reins of the sports offices after the departure of Danny Ainge after 18 months in office. Big changes are expected in the Massachusetts franchise, and one of them could be the aforementioned Walker, who has not met expectations since his signing in 2019 for 4 years and 141 million dollars.
Ahead there are two courses left. The 2021-22 valued at 34.37 million dollars, and the last one, the 2022-23, through a player option for 37.65 million. His exit could be complicated, since according to sources close to the franchise, Walker has lost much of his value in the last two years.
On the other hand, the Celtics also plan to negotiate the long-term future of Evan Fournier, who ends his respective contract valued at $ 17.15 million. The French guard / forward likes the Celtic board and could extend his stay in the team.
Walker has averaged 19.3 points, 4 rebounds and 4.9 assists in 31.8 minutes this season. On the other hand, Fournier, since his arrival in Boston, has collected 13 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 29.5 minutes.
