1 TB of storage and LiDAR on all models are confirmed

Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives confirms in his latest note the arrival of a 1TB storage option on the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, as well as the generalization of the LiDAR sensor on all iPhone models from 2021 Between the photos in uncompressed ProRAW format and the video capabilities of these devices, storage options closer to what iPads offer (1TB or even 2TB) are increasingly requested by customers.

For weeks, several rumors have returned around the iPhone 13 (we still do not know if this is their final name). Beside details on the size of the notch, or the new XXL photo sensors of the device, Apple is expected to offer a new internal storage option. Until now, Apple had never offered an internal storage option of more than 512 GB on its smartphones.

Apple offers up to 2TB of storage on the iPad Pro, mobile devices that are basically iPhone XXL with a slightly different OS. However, for several generations, Apple has simultaneously made progress in the quality of photos and videos on its iPhones, while presenting its most expensive products as professional tools.

iPhone 13: two big rumors are confirmed on storage and LiDAR sensors

Apple then added uncompressed image formats like ProRAW which generates particularly large files. The latest iPhones are also among the best smartphones for recording 4K videos, again with fairly heavy files. Of course the general public will undoubtedly opt for compressed formats and this is also the behavior of the iPhone by default.

But for others, having more internal storage is a must. It’s been several weeks since we expected the iPhone 13 to offer at least a 1TB internal storage option on the more expensive Pro models. Several reputable analysts and leakers have already corroborated this information, but Daniel Ives, analyst at Wedbush also confirms it in a note intended for investors. But the analyst does not stop there and also confirms two other rumors.

The first is that as you might expect, there will be a LiDAR sensor in the iPhone 13 regardless of the variant. Enough to democratize and develop the uses of this new component, in particular for augmented reality and computational photography. Daniel Ives also claims that Apple will launch its new 14 ″ and 16 ″ MacBook Pros with M1 chip at WWDC 2021 next week.
