Last Wednesday the WWE announced a new series of layoffs in its roster of wrestlers and surprisingly one of those affected by the decision was Braun Strowman. Just a couple of weeks ago Strowman had participated in Backlash in search of the WWE Championship belt.
He is a 37-year-old wrestler who came to WWE in 2013, after a remarkable career in “World’s Strongest Man” competitions between 2011 and 2013. He debuted on NXT in 2014 and quickly ended up linked to “The Wyatt Family.” appearing in various pay-per-view events alongside Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan.
Most of his WWE career was tied to RAW and was part of the brand’s main stories, competing and winning various championships over the years.
In his eight-year stay with the Strowman company, he showed his physical power and particular charisma, reaching the Universal and Intercontinental Championship belts. He was the winner of “Money in the Bank” in 2018 and Andre The Giant Battle Royal in 2019.
His status as a recurring figure in WWE opened the space for two contract renewals throughout his career with the company and although these figures are not officially published, in 2018 it was known that in his most recent contract he agreed to a salary of $ 300,000 annually, as Wrestling Inc. revealed at the time.
In addition to Strowman, five more were fired by the US company. Rounding out the list are Aleister Black, Lana, Murphy, Ruby Riott, and Santana Garrett.
Some rumors suggest that in the particular case of the wrestler Lana, she could meet with her husband Miro (known as Rusev in WWE) in the AEW.
