It is yet another failure for Donald Trump. One month after the launch of his “blog”, the section which gathered the press releases of the former Republican president online on its site, has closed. Jason Miller, his former advisor, hinted Wednesday, June 2, that this closure was a possible transition to another online platform. According to information from Washington Post, reported by 20 Minutes, the “blog” is used to pay its catastrophic audiences.
Donald Trump was banned from Twitter and Facebook when he was still President of the United States. He is accused of having encouraged the invasion of the Capitol by a crowd of his supporters, on January 6, during the certification ceremony of the victory of Joe Biden. This sanction had been strongly criticized by the conservatives who believe that social networks attack freedom of expression. Donald Trump still continued to send his press releases to a list of subscribers, claiming that he had not lost the presidential election. But their echo is weak.
The number of Donald Trump mentions divided by 10 on Twitter
His “blog” titled “From Donald J. Trump’s Office”, launched last May, was just a tab on his website that gathered his press releases. This earned him mockery from observers who believed the former US president was launching a new online platform. From now on, its press releases are available under the “News” section of its site, while the tab of the old blog directs Internet users to an online form to “receive alerts from Donald J. Trump”.
According to an analysis by BuzzSumo, the presidential communiques published in recent days generated only 4,000 daily interactions, this is 100,000 times less than the number of retweets of his message announcing that he was positive for Covid-19, last October. Since his exclusion from Twitter, the number of mentions of Donald Trump has been divided by 10 on the social network.
