The Executive Power authorized the transfer of more than one million soles to the Ministry of Foreign Relations, destined to the payment of 120 soles to the polling station members abroad for the second round of the General Elections of Peru in 2021.

The norm authorizes the transfer of items in the public sector budget for fiscal year 2021, up to the amount of one million 76 thousand 040 soles in favor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Said amount will be used to finance the payment of the economic compensation of 120 soles for the 10,320 board members who will carry out their work abroad in the second round of June 6.

“The resources of the Transfer of Items referred to in article 1 of this Supreme Decree; as well as the balances referred to in article 3 cannot be used, under responsibility, for different purposes for which they are authorized “says the norm.

It should be noted that the rule bears the signatures of the President of the Republic, Francisco Sagasti, and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Waldo Mendoza Bellido.

A total of 997,033 Peruvians living abroad are eligible to vote on June 6. 3,440 polling stations are planned to be installed in 224 polling stations in 208 cities in 79 countries.

Countries with the highest number of voters include the United States (1,044 polling stations with 309,602 voters), Spain (514 polling stations with 152,212 voters), Argentina (480 polling stations with 143,189 voters), Chile (392 polling stations with 117,140 voters) and Italy (321 tables with 94,590 voters).

For the second round, the same schedule as the general elections of last April 11 will be maintained, unlike the schedule that governs within the national territory: from 07:00 to 21:00.
