The state of North Rhine-Westphalia wants to continue to support women who are affected by violence. The cabinet has released an additional 1.5 million from the NRW rescue package.
Support in the corona crisis and beyond
The money is to be used to help women who suffer from violence during the corona pandemic, but also beyond. It goes to the state-funded support institutions for women affected by violence. The state parliament still has to agree to this beforehand.
Women’s shelters, women’s advice centers and advice centers for victims of human trafficking can apply for support from this aid until the end of the year. Equal Opportunities Minister Scharrenbach made it clear that the facilities can use the funds flexibly, i.e. for additional hygiene measures due to Corona, as well as to compensate for possible loss of income or for technical equipment.
