Bundesliga. Robert Lewandowski is the player of the season in the footballer vote

Earlier, in the fans’ vote, the results were sensational. Fans decided that scoring 41 goals in a season would not be enough to make Lewandowski the best player of the season. Unexpectedly, Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund won the vote.

The players themselves were of a different opinion. A poll by the VDV (professional footballers’ association) left no room for doubt. Lewandowski collected as much as 75.9 percent of the vote.

The gap between the successive players was huge. The second, Erling Haaland, won 7.1 percent of the vote, and the third, Thomas Mueller, 3.5 percent.

Bayern Munich this season ended the season for the ninth time in a row, winning the German championship. This is the longest such streak in the history of German football.

Lewandowski was one of the main architects of this success. The Polish striker broke the 49-year-old record of Gerd Mueller and was the first player in the history of the Bundesliga to score over 40 goals in a single season. The 32-year-old sniper only needed 29 appearances for this.
