Hamburg Airport expects significantly more passengers than before in the coming weeks. During the summer holidays, the number of flights is expected to triple.
All flights one day still fit on a display board. Not even every third check-in counter in Terminal 1 is open, and there are even fewer in Terminal 2. Currently, only around 8,000 passengers take off and land in Fuhlsbüttel per day – before the corona pandemic there were around seven times as many. By July, airport boss Michael Eggenschwiler expects the utilization to be up to 70 percent again.
