Which city players are qualified?
A number of City players have been selected from the preliminary squads.
Goalkeeper Ederson and forward Gabriel Jesus are part of Brazil’s 24-man squad established by coach Tite ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Ecuador leading up to the Copa America.
Argentina striker Sergio Agüero, who will leave City at the end of June to join FC Barcelona, has been selected in Argentina’s list of 30 players for the World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Colombia, which will take place before the Copa America.
CONMEBOL has allowed countries to widen their final selection for the Copa from 23 to 28.
The initial preliminary pool of 50 players that countries have been allowed to select may also be expanded to 60 before a final decision is made on the final selection on June 1.
When is it?
After being postponed from 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 tournament will take place from June 13 to July 10, 2021.
Where does the copa america 2021 take place?
South American football’s governing body CONMEBOL confirmed on Monday that Brazil will host the tournament, with Colombia and Argentina not being the two initial host countries.
Colombia was removed from the organization due to security concerns in the country earlier this month.
And as cases of COVID-19 are on the rise in Argentina, organizers announced this weekend that the tournament would not be held in that country either.
Now Brazil, who hosted the last Copa America in 2019, stepped in at the last minute and will be the host again.
What is the format?
There are two groups of five countries, Group A and Group B, with each country playing four group matches. The top four in each group advance to the knockout quarter-finals.
Which countries are qualified?
Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay, Chile and Uruguay: Group A.
Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru: Group B.
