BMKG predicts an earthquake with a magnitude of 8.7 and a tsunami with a height of 29 meters in East Java. This prediction emerged after BMKG conducted mathematical modeling, to measure the potential magnitude of the earthquake and tsunami height in the area.
This was presented by the Head of BMKG, Dwikorita Karnawati in a webminar entitled Earthquake and Tsunami Studies and Mitigation in East Java.
From the modeling results found facts about the tsunami in East Java. The maximum potential for a tsunami on the entire coast is in Trenggalek Regency with a range of 26-29 meters. Meanwhile, for the fastest time, it was recorded at 20-24 minutes in Blitar Regency.
