When was “Die Nanny” produced?
“The Nanny” is an American sitcom produced by CBS and first broadcast in 1993. 146 episodes of the series were shot over 6 seasons. In 1995 the series was shown for the first time in Germany. “The Nanny” was broadcast in 100 countries, won an Emmy and has been nominated for numerous other awards. The series is one of the most successful sitcoms in the world, thanks in part to its unique humor.
What is the sitcom “The Nanny” about?
Francine “Fran” Fine (Fran Drescher) is a bridal wearer from Queens, New York. From one day to the next she loses her job and her apartment when her fiancé Danny Imperiali (Jonathan Penner) kicks her out because he is having an affair with her former high school rival Heather Biblow (Pamela Anderson) and now prefers to be with her you want to be together. Then Fran starts working as a representative for cosmetic products and selling make-up door to door. By chance she got into an interview for a job as a nanny on the affluent Upper East Side and immediately seized this unique opportunity. Her efforts should pay off, she gets the coveted position of widowed and handsome Broadway producer Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy). Now she takes care of his three children Maggie (Nicholle Tom), Brighton (Benjamin Salisbury) and Gracie (Madeline Zima). At first, Mr. Sheffield is not very enthusiastic about the new nanny. Her tight clothing style, her quirks and her origin from Queens ensure that she does not find recognition in high society. Fran knows how to defend herself, however, and always has a funny saying on her lips and Mr. Sheffield also finds more and more pleasure in his new housekeeper.
Fran’s greatest rival is CC Babcock (Lauren Lane), who is Mr. Sheffield’s business partner. With a lot of meanness she tries to get Fran out of the house, but Fran receives support from the butler Niles (Daniel Davis), who also doesn’t like Babcock. Fran has an exciting time with the children as they grow up. Over time, Fran and Mr. Sheffield develop feelings for each other that they do not want to admit to each other.
