Yolanthe lives most of the time in Los Angeles with son Xess Xava, Wesley Sneijder lives in Utrecht. How and whether that will work is a question she prefers not to answer. “I have agreed with Wesley that we will not discuss our private situation publicly,” she says. “I’m glad that Xess and I have a good relationship with Wes. A lot has happened, but love is always there. I hope we remain friends for the rest of our lives.”

It is not surprising that Yolanthe moved to Los Angeles. “I went there because I wanted to create peace for my son Xess and me. Even though I know that media attention is part of the profession – I will never complain about that – it became a bit much for me around the time of my divorce. (…) So Xess and I went to LA, where we can do the little things again that are very normal for other people. To the park, the beach, the supermarket. I can go to the playground with a bun in there, having fun with Xess, without thinking if anyone thinks about it. Nobody knows who we are there. That’s freedom.”
That could just be over when Yo’s American career gets off the ground, because the city offers opportunities to pick up her international acting career is a nice bonus. Now that she’s in one of the best acting schools in the world, she has the chance to have coffee with famous actors. “For example, Will Smith was recently in my class. He did a scene, then told about it and we could ask him questions afterwards. That is someone I look up to, not only as an actor, but also as a person.”
