The University Hospital Complex of A Coruña (CHUAC) Partially closing for works this summer a plastic surgery plant at Hospital A Coruña, plus another plant in the Abente and Lago which serves to reinforce the assistance possibilities in case of need.
Health sources explain to Radio Coruña Cadena SER that they have chosen to maintain, as far as possible, the care activity after the months of the pandemic. Except for serious or urgent needs, all activity was focused on fighting the coronavirus.
The unions warn that this summer the problem was not so much the closure of beds or plants, but the necessary reinforcement to recover what was lost by the pandemic. “We were waiting for at least this summer that an avalanche of Covid patients can leave us, that the Sergas would give us a break and call those patients of another priority who were not treated, or recover services,” said the regional secretary of the nursing union satse, Carmen García.
In similar lines, CIG-Saúde denounce that Primary Care is suffering one of its worst summers, with crowded consultations and long waiting lists. They recall from the union headquarters that professionals have been forced to take vacations in the summer while waiting for the upswings that may occur in the autumn.
