The Angela Davis high school in Saint-Denis has experienced strong mobilizations in recent years, particularly during the strike against the Blanquer reform but also in November 2020 when teachers mobilized to obtain health protocols commensurate with the catastrophic situation in the schools! They fought to obtain teaching in half-groups or massive hiring of staff in schools!
The crackdown on teachers in unprecedented struggle that befalls high school teachers Angela Davis follows this mobilization.
It is to try to silence the protest in a combative establishment that 5 colleagues from the school were summoned for several facts leading to an interview at the rectorate of Créteil during these last months!
As a high school teacher recalls in a speech, it is “an attack on union activists and elected officials in local bodies in a high school which has mobilized a lot in recent years”.
This Monday, 2 colleagues from the school left the interview with a reprimand and 2 others received a reminder to the duty of civil servant! A 5th colleague in a procedure in progress within the establishment!
The rally called by the inter-union showed that we will not let ourselves be intimidated by these methods and brought together Angela Davis beyond the establishment with the presence of colleagues from Choisy-le-Roi or Blanc-Mesnil but also at – beyond national education with the presence of RATP machinist who distinguished themselves in the mobilization against pensions.
Several supporters took the microphone in turn.
It was first of all teachers from other establishments of the Créteil academy who took the floor to provide their support but also to remind that several establishments are undergoing this repression: in Choisy-le-Roi, in Blanc-Mesnil at Mozart high school!
They thus recall the multiplication of convocations to the rectorate of Créteil and the disciplinary procedures initiated in order to silence these staff who constantly defend the same public education service for all students through their educational and union commitment.
“We start with one person and then we attack the entire profession when we defend ourselves against reforms that destroy education and we resist”
It is for this reason that we must “organize collectively to respond to its inadmissible attacks” adds a teacher who came to support the mobilization.

The reality is that repressing as of now the teachers in struggle who contest the reforms Blanquer, it is to better pass “the bad blows of tomorrow: more power to the chief, less means, the general breakdown of education. As a teacher from Angela Davis reminds us. This is the real goal of Blanquer at the head of national education: to import the methods of the private sector and to transform the heads of establishments into omnipotent managers.
Indeed, while Blanquer multiplies the neo-liberal reforms to break up National Education, we need resistance and significant mobilizations as was the case last November during the “health strike” when teachers mobilized massively. to impose health protocols commensurate with the situation.
However, we have a government which has denied that schools could be the center of the epidemic outbreak and which transfers the responsibility to families who do not respect barrier gestures!
At the rally, RATP workers came to support the teachers, remembering the essential solidarity between the struggling sectors. “We participated in the same mobilizations against the pension reform, we built an interprofessional strike where teachers came on our picket lines. Today, we are undergoing the same liberal reforms that break our rights. We have the same repression ”recalling the disciplinary council, which calls for the dismissal of Ahmed Berrahal, a CGT activist repressed for having denounced sexual harassment in the company.
It is therefore not their professionalism that is called into question, but their educational choices and union membership that are problematic, and this is what the participants in the rallies understood. It is the pedagogical freedoms prized by teachers and trade union sensitivities that are still repressed today.
The speeches of colleagues mobilized since the start of Macron’s five-year term and in particular in the context of the health crisis underlined the need to organize massively for the repression suffered by colleagues ceases and that it will be necessary to impose one for a response. up to the task: stand up against repression but also against the Blanquer reforms.
Jean-Michel Blanquer represents one of the strong men of the government, he has indeed kept his post through the multiple ministerial reshuffles. In this context, defeating Blanquer and his repression represents a blow to the entire government and requires the mobilization of all. In a period of relative social calm, teachers and workers at the heart of the latest mobilisations find themselves targeted by repression. To face it, it is imperative to build anti-repression fronts that go beyond establishments or workplaces and union and political labels.
