Problems with the criteria for appointing Abdi Negara Nurdin or Abdee Slank as a commissioner of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk drew criticism. One of them, from the former Secretary of the Ministry of SOEs Said Didu.
Said Didu even insinuated that Abde played guitar to solve problems at the state-owned company.
In response to this, the Special Staff of the Minister of SOEs, Arya Sinulangga, spoke up. He said the criteria for selecting the commissioners were clear. He explained, Telkom is a telecommunications company that has been relying on infrastructure. In the future, Telkom will transform to digital.
According to him, this transformation requires people who have experience, especially in digital content.
“That’s where we need people like the commissioners who do have experience, especially for digital, especially digital content. And we know that Abdee, Abdi Negara is a person who already has experience, especially in the field of digital music and that’s one of Abdee’s understandings, especially digital. content. This is what we need too,” he told detikcom, Sunday (30/5/2021).
Arya said last year the government had appointed Muhammad Fajrin Rasyid, the founder of Bukalapak, as Director of Digital Business at Telkom in the context of this transformation. Therefore, his party also appointed Abdee in the transformation section. Arya said, apart from musicians, Abdee also has experience in management because he leads and serves as a commissioner in a number of companies.
“In terms of management, he is also a person who plays a lot at the management level in the arts, so it’s not just art, but also art management. He (Abdee Slank) understands very well and he leads several companies, commissioners of several companies as well,” he said.
Arya also dismissed Said Didu’s statement that he had concurrent positions. He explained that in the latest SOE Ministerial Regulation it is not allowed to hold concurrent positions in two SOEs. So, his position as a commissioner at PT Inalum (Persero) was automatically released along with his appointment as a commissioner of Telkom.
“By nature, when I was appointed to the other commissioner, I automatically no longer held the commissioner. That’s why I automatically didn’t hold the commissioner at Inalum. Later the administration will follow. But in terms of duties and responsibilities and rights, BUMN will automatically disappear in one of the companies. SOEs before. And it has happened in several previous commissioners like that, “he explained.
He also highlighted the matter of Said Didu who was appointed as Secretary of the Ministry of SOEs. According to Arya, although his background is different, the evidence is that Said can carry out his duties at the Ministry of SOEs.
“So in terms of competence and so on, Mas Said Didu used to be from BPPT suddenly became Sesmen of the Ministry of SOEs. That’s a different thing too, how can you move from BPPT which is research, suddenly the Sesmen of BUMN which is in charge of BUMN-BUMN. But After all, in the end, he was able to buy him. It means that he saw himself too. In the past, maybe people doubted what Said Didu was capable of, but in the end it was proven that he was able to become a Sesmen,” he explained
Previously, Said Didu criticized the absence of clear criteria for the placement of directors and commissioners in BUMN. Including, the placement of Abdi Negara Nurdin or Abdee Slank as Telkom commissioners.
