American actor Gavin McLeod, who became widely known for his role in the TV series “Love Boat” and in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”, has died at the age of 90, AP, Reuters and AFP reported, quoted by BTA.
The actor died early Saturday morning at his home in Palm Desert, California.
For almost a decade, he remained almost anonymous, despite his appearances in television series and in several feature films in minor roles. He rose to fame in the 1970s with the role of Murray in The Mary Tyler Moore Show. After the show, he was included in the team of the series “Love Boat”.

He was born in Mount Kisco, New York, as Alan Sea. He composed his artistic pseudonym, taking as his own the name of a character from a French film, and his family name – the name of his acting teacher from Ithaca College in New York, who encouraged him to devote himself to the performing arts. He starred in several Broadway productions and in films such as “I Want to Live” and “Operation Fusta” with Carrie Grant and Tony Curtis, before devoting himself mainly to a television career.
