A Coruña: New concessions for the A Coruña metropolitan bus come into service | Radio Coruña

Revolution day in metropolitan transport. This Wednesday the new public transport contracts come into force and the concessions in force for 50 years disappear. The companies that made these trips also change, the west zone (Costa da Morte) will be from Arriva and part of the east zone (Culleredo, Cambre, Oleiros and Sada) for the Alsa and Monbus groups.

Among the main novelties, there are new connections with Oleiros which aim to reduce travel times. Mera, for example, almost triples its frequencies, from 14 to 38. Also note the circular bus that will run along both banks of the O Burgo estuary. Cambre and Arteixo are now connected through the polygons of Sabón, Agrela and Pocomaco with thirty services a day and, very importantly, with stops on the university campus in class time.

Among the novelties, a connection between Sada and Alvedro It will cross the Bergondo and Espíritu Santo industrial estates and Cambre, with stops at the outlet. Oleiros, Cambre, Culleredo and Sada will be better connected to hospitals, including Abente and Lago.

In these contracts the Xunta has invested something more than half a million euros a year. The concessions that end today had 50 years of history with hardly any variations despite the demographic and urban changes that have occurred especially in the municipalities of the area closest to A Coruña.
