Author of a big season in the hopeful championship with Boulogne-Levallois (17.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists), Kezza Giffa (19 years old, 1m86) has chosen to cross the Atlantic to continue his progress.
The son of the former French international Sacha Giffa, now an assistant at Metropolitans 92, will join the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) and will therefore evolve with the “Miners”, under the orders of Joe Golding.
“Kezza is a left-handed point guard who sees the game very well and is a top passer”, said the coach of UTEP in particular. “He has a great basketball IQ and we think he can become an elite defender. Kezza played at a high level of international competition in France. We are very happy to see him develop and he will continue to work on his game early in his college career. His dad played as a professional, so he sees the game from a coach’s perspective. Anytime we can get an elite player for four years it’s very exciting ”.
Before tackling this new adventure, Kezza Giffa will first go through the France U19 team since he is one of the 24 players selected for the first preparation camp for the U19 World Cup. Preparation begins on June 2 for a month, with competition starting on July 3 in Riga and Daugavpils (Latvia).
Note also that UTEP has formed two legendary leaders, whose numbers are now withdrawn by the university: Tim Hardaway (# 10) and Nate “Tiny” Archibald (# 14).
