NASA Detects Strange Colorful Clouds on Mars

Suara.com – NASA detect mysterious cloud from explorer Curiosity of Mars.

The robot took a combination of 21 photos to study a strange type of thin cloud over Gale Crater.

According to experts, these clouds appeared in late January when Curiosity scanned the sky and began documenting thin, ice-rich clouds scattering sunlight in a colorful display.

“I’ve always admired the colors that pop up, like red, green, blue, and purple. It’s really cool to see something glowing with so many colors on Mars,” said Mark Lemmon, an atmospheric scientist at the Space Science Institute in Colorado.

Surprisingly, these clouds appear higher up in the Martian atmosphere than the clouds normally seen by scientists on the planet.

Normally, if a cloud passes through Curiosity, the structure is full of water ice and floats about 60 km above the Martian surface.

The clouds in Curiosity’s new photo are higher in the atmosphere, although NASA did not specify how high they are.

These differences may reflect different compositions.

Allegedly, the cloud is a cloud of frozen carbon dioxide or dry ice, although experts are not convinced by the explanation.

Reported from Space.com, Sunday (30/5/2021), the clouds look most beautiful right after sunset, when the last light makes the ice crystals shine.
