The Hotel New York, located in Disneyland Paris, is transformed with the arrival of the Marvel superheroes! Originally scheduled for summer 2020, its opening will finally be on June 21, 2021. An establishment that is getting a makeover to infuse the inspiring and dynamic art of Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow and even Spider-Man while retaining that distinctive, “stylish and vibrant” atmosphere of the city that never sleeps. As for reservations, they began on May 18.
Marvel superheroes set down their suitcases at Disneyland Paris… but not in just any hotel! After having proposed for several years the Superhero Season, the Parisian park has announced the opening of its brand new hotel, Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel, from June 21, 2021, with reservations opening from May 18. After several years of renovation work, the Disney’s Hôtel New York, flagship of the resort, is therefore getting a makeover here to integrate the world ofIron Man, from Captain America and all Avengers. A renovation which is an integral part of the investment planned for the expansion of the Walt Disney Studios park, with three new lands.
To celebrate the opening of the hotel, a introductory offer exclusive must be available for bookings made until July 29, 2021 for an arrival date until March 30, 2022. Visitors who make these reservations before the date will leave with an exclusive, limited-edition Marvel artwork by the artist Matt Ferguson, and will be offered a non-alcoholic drink, to choose from in one of the hotel bars.
This was due to open in summer 2020, but coronavirus obliges, the hotel was forced to postpone the reception of the first guests until Greek calends. The idea behind this new hotel? Recreate the universe of a modern art gallery New York … And the lobby in question seems to serve as a pretty showcase for this art gallery. The reason ? More than 300 works, some of which marked the 80th anniversary of the House of Ideas, will thus be exhibited throughout the establishment.
A huge makeover of his 4 star hotel, renamed for the occasion “The Art of Marvel”. Because this is the whole point of this makeover: showing the artistic side of comics and its influence on modern art, thus making this hotel a real museum. In total, as explained to us Tom Müller, designer-scenographer at the Walt Disney Imagineering, “more than 110 artists were solicited“, for a unique” exhibition “… and evolving, since the idea, always according to Tom Müller, is of “continue the installation of works of art within the hotel, even after opening“. The idea:”challenge visitors through art“.
A concept pushed to the end, since between the hotel and the convention center, a real art gallery takes place: the Jack Kirby Legacy Gallery which, as its name suggests, pays homage to one of the pundits of Marvel Comics, creator of many superheroes in the company of Joe Simon and Stan Lee) as Captain America, Fantastic Four, Ant-Man, Hulk or The Eternals. Within this gallery, temporary exhibitions must be presented, linked to current events in Marvel. Film releases, concept art of zones and attractions in foreign parks … These are all subjects that the gallery and the hotel must address. And within the rotunda, a special tribute is paid to the artist with the exhibition of a permanent collection comprising 21 comic book covers designed by this legendary artist.
A new space that promises visitors a dive “Into the epic action and adventures of their favorite superheroes, from the mystical arts of Doctor Strange to the dizzying prowess of Spider-Man“. In total, no less than 476 standard rooms, 65 executive rooms and eight standard suites, all in the colors of your favorite superheroes, await superhero fans and which you will be able to open thanks to your smartphone. A rehabilitation possible thanks to an unprecedented collaboration between Marvel Comics and Marvel Studios.
The idea of this renovation? To offer “an environment reminiscent of a luxurious and contemporary Manhattan establishment“. Urban interior design,”elegant and cosmopolitan, reminiscent of the style and tastes of Tony Stark and the seat of the Avengers“and presenting”Marvel’s art in a way that reinvents the idea of an “art hotel”“.
Regarding restaurants, there are two: the Downtown Restaurant, offering an all-you-can-eat buffet with the largest number of works of art in the hotel, and the Manhattan Restaurant, with a tempting menu and table service. Note that in the latter, a massive chandelier weighing 110 kg and composed of 225 elements in blown Bohemian glass, created in a workshop in Prague, catches the eye from the entrance of the restaurant. A true work of art that required no less than two years of work, from design to installation and production, and which echoes, through its structure, Asgard, Thor’s home world.
On the bar side, there are also two: the Bleecker Street Lounge, in a very New York style and from the universe of Doctor Strange, and the Skyline Bar, a typical New York altitude bar, somewhat resembling Tony Stark’s apartments. Two bars that offer a cocktail menu with and without alcohol, and moreover fun: the Skyline Bar offers a non-alcoholic drink in the colors of the Hulk, while for his part, the Bleecker Street Lounge honors the Sorcerer Supreme with a levitating cocktail … Just that! On the other hand, for the moment, no information has been specified concerning the possibility of coming to lunch in the restaurants of the hotel or to have a drink in the various bars, for people outside and not hotel customers, health crisis obliges.
In terms of decoration, limited editions will be exhibited in the various rooms and suites of the establishment, while public spaces will be entitled to dazzling works, exhibited for all to see: comics, films, posters, sculptures, armor. ofIron Man, storyboards, accessories and other costumes will thus decorate the hotel for a total immersion.
For families, spaces dedicated to children are planned, such as the Marvel Design Studio, allowing your children to learn to draw their favorite superheroes, the Hero Training Academy, an outdoor sports area offering basketball, yoga and fitness classes as well as Super Hero Station, offering hotel residents (and only them) to take a picture of themselves with Spider-Man. Finally, the Marvel Photos Stations also invites hotel guests to take their picture in a painting straight from the Marvel universe.
And of course, the traditional shops, swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) and gyms, inherent in each hotel of the resort. We look forward !
