No quarantine obligation
Travelers from some countries are now released from quarantine when entering Norway – this applies to both Norwegians and foreigners and there is no requirement that you must be resident in Norway.
“Yellow” countries and areas with fewer than 25 registered cases of infection per 100,000 inhabitants and fewer than four percent positive tests.
These countries and territories are now yellow:
Releases quarantine hotel
Travelers from some countries will in future not have to stay in quarantine hotels. You must still complete the quarantine period at home, or at another suitable place to stay, until a negative test at the earliest seven days.
The countries must be within the United Kingdom, the EEA and Schengen and have an infection pressure between 25 and 150 per 100,000 inhabitants over 14 days. In addition, less than four percent must have tested positive in the same period.
I FHIs last academic basis for weeks 18 and 19 Poland, Romania, Portugal, Hungary, Ireland, Finland, Liechtenstein and Malta met the requirement.
But the European Infection Control Agency ECDC on Thursday updated the figures for EEA and Schengen countries.
NIPH is working to update its travel advice pages. According to VG’s overview, several countries, such as Italy and Austria, may soon meet the requirement.
In the table below you can see which countries are likely to reach the requirement to release quarantine hotels, select “in detail” on the settings:
At least three days in quarantine hotel
Travelers from “red” countries with high infection pressure in the United Kingdom, the EEA and Schengen must stay in quarantine hotels for at least three days.
If you test negative on day three, you can complete the rest of the quarantine period at home. If you also test negative at the earliest after seven days, you can quarantine.
This applies to countries that have more than 150 infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, and / or more than four percent who test positive.
– For travelers from the United Kingdom, EEA and Schengen countries, it is the infection situation at the time you enter Norway that is decisive, Nakstad emphasizes.
This means that if the country or region you are in goes from red to yellow on the day you return home, the rules for yellow countries apply when you cross the border into Norway. The same goes the opposite way.
Travelers from land outside The United Kingdom, the EEA and Schengen have a ten-day quarantine obligation at quarantine hotels, but can test themselves at the earliest after seven days in the event of a negative test result.
More can come to Norway
It is open for entry for foreigners who live in countries or areas that are not subject to quarantine obligations, ie «yellow countries», in Norway.
Today, this applies to Greenland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland and parts of Finland, but that will change as more countries get the population vaccinated and the infection falls, the government writes on its website.
On Wednesday, the government also announced that Norwegian students returning home from study abroad, do not have to pay the deductible for any stay in quarantine hotels.
Vaccinated people must for the time being adhere to the same entry rules.
