Five people were arrested on charges of attempted murder of British activist Sasha Johnson, hospitalized Monday in critical condition in an intensive care unit in London after she was shot in the head. Johnson had been badly injured while he was at a rally on Consort Road, a street in the Peckam district in the south of the city. The people arrested are five men between 17 and 28 years old.
Sasha Johnson, 27, with two children, became known last year for being one of the leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement in the UK, and in October had founded the Taking the Initiative party, which he described as “Britain’s first black-led party”.
