Blizzard cancels BlizzCon 2021 and announces hybrid event for early 2022

MADRID, 27 (Portaltic/EP)

Blizzard has decided not to hold this year’s edition of its BlizzCon event, instead starting to host a global event that will take place early next year, combining digital with face-to-face.

BlizzCon Executive Producer Saralyn Smith has confirmed that the event will not be held in November, given the difficulty of organizing a face-to-face meeting due to the “complexities and uncertainties of the pandemic.”

In a statement, Smith has assured that they do not want too much time to pass between celebrations, and therefore they are planning a “global event” to be held in early 2022. In it, he explains, they will combine digital meetings following the example of BlizzConline, with smaller in-person meetings.
