The Villeurbanne police station has a social worker to support victims

After the upsurge in domestic violence and the current climate of tension, the City of Villeurbanne has decided to act within its own police station.

With the help of the Viffil-SOS association and thanks to a financial contribution from the State (23,000 euros per year), a post of “social worker” will soon be created to support the work of the police. This agent will be responsible for welcoming and informing victims who come to the police station. A role considered very important since it will allow better care of people in distress, especially those who suffer from domestic violence.
But this permanence ensured by a social worker could also be useful during the hearings of the perpetrators of offenses.

The City of Villeurbanne will finance this job creation to the tune of 32,000 euros per year. A deliberation will take place during the municipal council on May 31 to endorse the decision.
