Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Saudi Arabia reportedly did not grant aircraft clearance Israel flying across his country.
Last Tuesday (25/5), an Israeli airline was forced to cancel a flight to Dubai after failing to get Saudi permission to fly through its airspace.
Israeli military radio said the passengers waited for 10 hours at Ben Gurion airport near Tel Aviv before an Israir Airlines flight
canceled.
As quoted from Anadolu AgencySo far, it is not clear why the Saudis refuse to grant Israeli flight permits.
The Saudis have allowed Israeli airlines to use their airspace on flights to Dubai since November last year.
Without passing through Saudi airspace, flights between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be difficult and unsustainable, as it makes the travel time longer, which is eight hours. Meanwhile, if you go through Saudi Arabia, it will be shortened to three hours.
Last December, Israir Airlines announced a daily Israel-UAE flight program. Other Israeli carriers, including El Al, also have similar flight programs.
Direct flights from Israel to the United Arab Emirates occurred after the two countries agreed to establish diplomatic relations.
The UAE and Israel signed an agreement facilitated by the United States to normalize their relationship in September 2020.
Since then, the two countries have signed dozens of bilateral agreements in various fields, including investment, banking services and tourism.
