Bernard Tapie’s state of health has deteriorated. His son Laurent has revealed that “new tumors have appeared” and that his father must now be treated in hospital. He would be “extremely tired”.
The 78-year-old businessman has suffered from stomach cancer for several years. While he was already weakened, Bernard Tapie must now face a tumor “in the brain treated by radiotherapy” and “two in the kidneys, in the abdomen”. “He has chemotherapy, immunotherapy. He had surgery,” explains Laurent Tapie on BFMTV.
Absent at his trial
“The statistical chances at this stage are appalling,” continues the latter. For him, it is “not human” that his father’s request for a referral of the appeal has been rejected.
Bernard Tapie has actually been tried for two weeks in second instance in the context of the Crédit Lyonnais arbitration. The trial having already been postponed, the judges refused the request and it is now taking place in the absence of the septuagenarian and his lawyers.
According to one of his counsels, the treatments he will follow “are likely to allow him to participate in a new trial at a relatively near date”.
