A year after an agitated municipal campaign, the political battle is starting up again in Colombes (Hauts-de-Seine) on the occasion of the departmental elections. In a town that rocked EELV during the June 2020 election, the fight for seats on the departmental council promises to be just as intense. In particular in the Colombes-1 canton, held by Nicole goueta and Sebastien Perrotel.
A leaflet “which smacks of stigma”
In the countryside, a leaflet from the former mayor defeated a year ago, associated this year with Herve Hemonet, did not go unnoticed Sunday, May 23, 2021. In a list of statements denouncing the provisions of the municipality, the elected Republicans has split a sentence subject to controversy in recent days:
“They want to make Colombes a city of 9.3”
Widely relayed on social networks, a photo of the leaflet – “which smacks of the stigmatization of working-class neighborhoods” according to Thomas Portes, spokesperson for Génération.s- did not fail to react, as far as Seine-Saint-Denis: “Here is the good old right of 92, the right of hate ‘the others’, the right of Valérie Pécresse which uses the words of the fascists… ”commented Mathieu Monot, first assistant to Pantin. Municipal councilor in Bagnolet, Rachel Garrido also cracked a tweet.
” It’s not mean “
For his part, the ex-aedile assumes : “The department of 93 is managed by the left and 92 by the right: these are two different types of management! “And supports:” It is so well known that there are problems in 9.3 (sic) that the State itself has done the maximum with the Olympic Games to provide all its support and help to change this department. ”
A territory which “does not have an image as good as that of Hauts-de-Seine. We prefer to stay with the image of 92 than that of 93. It’s not bad, ”continues the departmental councilor.
A seat in danger
Its headquarters, as well as the second in the canton, could change tenants. Elected since 2001, Nicole Goueta was until 2015 representative of the canton of Colombes-Sud. But with the territorial reform of 2014, the town went from three to two cantons.
From now on, if the major part of the city makes up the canton of Colombes-1, two districts in the south of the commune (Petite Garenne and the Valleys) are attached to Bois-Colombes and La Garenne-Colombes in the canton of Colombes-2. Gold, it is in the latter that Nicole Goueta obtained a large part of the votes during the Municipal elections. But the former city councilor has not changed canton.
It is therefore on Colombes-1 that Nicole Goueta and Hervé Hemonet present themselves, in particular against the duo of the municipal majority: Chantal Barthélémy-Ruiz and Najib Benarafa. In 2015, the Goueta-Perrotel alliance won in the second round (54%) against the left then present in the opposition, represented by Fatoumata Sow and Philippe Sarre. At the end of June, the result looks more than uncertain.
